No defensive reflexes in infant

Post a new topicby tan2406 on Mon Oct 01, 2007 4:28 pm

I have a 9 month old who has poor fine and gross motor skills...doesn't roll from back to front, doesn't crawl, can't pick up small objects (no pincer grasp), can't move from position to position. I have just today found out that he doesn't have any defensive reflexes (if you pretend to drop him, he doesn't put his arms out...if he's sitting and starts to fall over, he doesn't try to stop himself).

He's being sent to a Neurologist and a Developmental Paediatrician, but that could be months from now!

Does anyone know what kind of disorders can cause this? And has anyone come in contact with someone with this type of developmental problem?

Any information would be greatly appreciated. This is my 3rd child and the 1st two never had any of these issues, so I'm at a loss at to what to do and what to think.
