Post a new topicby livingwith on Mon Jun 30, 2008 3:04 pm

my mother has triple bypass surgery in September 07. After the surgery she would stand up and get dizzy and pass out. They claim this happens when the blood puddles in her legs after sitting and getting up and becomes dizzy. She is on low blood pressure medicine since her cardiac doctor says she needs this because of her surgery. We don’t know what to do as she has fallen and passed out several times since then, the last one being very bad as she smacked her face on the tile and broke her ...Read the full article

I also have the same symptoms as your mother. I had a 5 way bypass in Jan. 2002. Several months later(almost a year to be exact) I has my very first episode. In Feb. 2003, my cardiologist did another heart catherization and it came out perfectly OK. Since then, I have been to the Emergency Room on two different occasions, been treated by two different doctors for a hyper thyroid condition, and still continue to have these sudden blood pressure drop and passing out episodes when standing or walking. Just last week, I had a cardiolyte stress test which showed a couple of questionable areas. Exact term was "reverseable defect/ mid anterior wall". This past Monday, I had yet another heart catherization which showed nothing, everything was fine. Just last night, I went from the living room into the kitchen area and my blood pressure dropped to 90/60 suddenly and I felt myself getting weak to the point of passing out. After I lay down for 1-2 hours, my blood pressure picks up and I feel fine again. I am on a BP medicine also. I had to quit my job in Sept. due to these episodes, never knowing when I may have one. I am so glad to have found your article, as I don't think the doctor's know what is causing this. Any more info you can provide would be appreciated.(I have another doctor appointment next Thurs. to see where we go from here.) I hope your mother is doing better.
